Newfmist Newfoundland Ponies
We are a family of four children, two adults that live in central Saskatchewan on a third generation grain farm that happens to have a positive addiction for Newfoundland Ponies. Our Mum, born and raised in Nova Scotia, grew up listening to stories about herds of sturdy Newfoundland ponies that roamed the rocky sea bound island they were named for. In 1993, after reading an article in The Small Farmers Journal featuring Joywind Farms and their efforts to save the Newfoundland Pony our Mum decided to get involved with this worthy endeavor. Mum’s dream became reality a few years later when Princess and Trixie were obtained with the help of Drs. Andrew Fraser & Anne Holmes. The Newfoundland Pony has become our family’s passion and love for the past 15 years. We four kids are all actively involved in raising friendly, confident, safe ponies for all to enjoy. These ponies are hard working, forgiving, versatile, cheerful, fun, charming and the most awesome family friend. In other words, Canada’s best kept secret!
We named our pony farm, Newfmist Newfoundland Ponies because we hope some of the salty air from Newfoundland will blow out to our prairie farm.
